Safety Management Systems

To ensure that you learn in safety SCOEC has a range of safety management systems in operation. We assess and identify risks involved in all activities and then take action to manage these risks. The result is that a balance is achieved between fun, learning, challenge and adventure. Our safety management system is backed up by inspections from the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority, Royal Yachting Association and British Canoe Union.

Safety management is the shared responsibility of you, the participant and the instructor. In the initial stages of learning, the instructor will take on most of this responsibility. As you progress to take further courses and sessions, you will build up experience and develop skills in all aspects of the activity, one of which is the ability to understand and manage the inherent risks associated with the activity.
