Summer Camp

Summer Camp is for 12 - 15 year olds. Up to 24 others will be on camp with you and a team of SCOEC instructors will be with you all the time.

Camp is an action-packed residential with a water activity programme to keep you busy during the day, with games and team challenges in the evening, after dinner.

If you are planning to go on an SCOEC expedition in the future, it is a good idea to go on Summer Camp so that you can experience being away from home, working with others and the instructors on an activity programme.

The choice is yours

There are two programme options to select from. You can either choose the Go-For-It Programme or the Course Programme option.

Go-For-It Programme

When you choose the Go-For-It Programme, during the week you will try canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, rafting, snorkelling and orienteering. You will really have to go for it!

Course Programme

When selecting the course option, choose either 2 x two day courses or 1 x four day course. On the last day everyone joins together for a regatta.

Accommodation

You will stay in a log cabin with up to 8 others. There are bunk beds in the cabins so you will need to bring your sleeping bag and a pillow.

Expeditions

There are four expeditions to choose from. To become a member of an expedition you will need to build your skills and experience up to the required level. The expedition will further develop your existing skills and introduce you to new skills. There is more to an expedition than just the activity programme. There is shopping for food and supplies, preparing food, cleaning of personal gear and the team equipment. The Instructoring team and the expedition members will be expected to work together on all of these tasks.

Before the expedition sets off there will be sessions at SCOEC to finalise plans and make preparations.

In the evening there will be a planning session to review the day and to make plans for the next day.

Each expedition has a team of very experienced
instructors to coach and supervise the expedition members at all times.
